Both varieties are equally delicious, nutritious, and stunning to grow.

About Red vs White Dragon Fruit
Red-Fleshed (Hylocereus costaricensis): Deep magenta flesh, slightly sweeter, rich in antioxidants and betalains. Visually stunning when cut open!
White-Fleshed (Hylocereus undatus): Crisp white flesh with black seeds, mild and refreshing flavour, slightly more common variety.
Both varieties have the same iconic bright pink/yellow skin with green scales, identical growing requirements, and produce equally beautiful flowers. The only difference is the interior flesh colour and subtle taste variations!
Growing Guide
Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free climates. Perfect for Australian coastal and subtropical regions. Can be grown in pots and moved indoors during cold snaps in cooler areas.
Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade (6+ hours of sunlight ideal)
Soil: Well-draining cactus mix or sandy soil. Does not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
Watering: Water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Support: Requires a trellis, stake, or fence for climbing. Can grow 3-6 meters tall with proper support.
Fruiting Time: Typically begins fruiting 1-2 years after planting from cuttings. Flowers bloom at night and are pollinated by moths (or you can hand-pollinate).
Feeding: Light feeding with low-nitrogen cactus fertiliser during growing season (spring-summer).
